Pieta House is Lumenia Charity of the Year
Galway based Lumenia have launched a ‘Charity of the Year’ initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility programme and to give something back to the community. Each year employees will be given the opportunity to nominate their chosen charity. The winning charity is chosen by employee vote.
The 2014 Lumenia Charity of the Year winner is Pieta House. Pieta House was nominated by employee Mairead Davin. Mairead has supported this charity for a number of years through various local fundraising efforts. Pieta House will receive a donation of €7,500.
“Since BSM was founded in 1997, we have supported a number of charities on an ad-hoc basis. We decided to formalise our contributions by giving a substantial donation to one chosen charity each year. I am delighted that Pieta House is the 2014 winner”, commented Sean Jackson, Managing Director.

Pieta House is a suicide and self-harm crisis centre providing a professional, one-to-one therapeutic service for people who are experiencing suicidal ideation or engaging in self-harm.
Anyone can access the service; it is completely free of charge and a doctor’s referral or psychiatric report is not required. Most people are referred to Pieta House by family members or friends.
“We’re thrilled to have been chosen by the team at Lumenia / BSM as their charity of the year. We recently opened our first suicide and self-harm crisis centre for the west of Ireland, Pieta House West in Tuam, and this kind donation will be a big help in keeping this free service going. We’d like to thank everyone at BSM for their support”, commented Joan Freeman, Pieta House.
