IMNDA is Lumenia Charity of the Year

Galway based Lumenia run a ‘Charity of the Year’ initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility programme and to give something back to the community.  Each year employees are given the opportunity to nominate their chosen charity and the selected charity is chosen by employee vote.

The 2015 Lumenia Charity of the Year winner is the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA). The IMNDA will receive a donation of €7,500. IMNDA was nominated by Linda Davey, Marketing Manager at Lumenia. Linda choose this charity because of its ongoing support to sufferers of this debilitating disease and its campaign to increase awareness and raise vital funds for research.

“Since BSM was founded in 1997, we have supported a number of charities on an ad-hoc basis. We decided to formalise our contributions last year by giving a substantial donation to one chosen charity each year. I am delighted that IMNDA is the 2015 winner”, commented Sean Jackson, Managing Director.

The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of its kind in this country. It was set up in May 1985 to provide care and support to people with Motor Neurone Disease, their carers, families and friends. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.  There are currently over 320 people living with MND in Ireland. MND is often referred to as the 1,000 day disease as most people die within 1,000 days of being diagnosed.

“For the length of my father’s arduous battle with the disease, the IMNDA encouraged and helped him to keep his face towards sunshine at times when he felt trapped in his body that only knew rain.  The services and equipment provided by the IMNDA, and the home visits by the IMNDA Specialist Nurse to  my Dad were invaluable and made a huge difference from not coping to coping for my Dad and our family.  The IMNDA relies heavily on donations and fund raising to provide these services, the generous donation from Lumenia will go a long way.  Thank You.” Katie Hallissey.

Lumenia specialises in the development of business systems strategy and the selection and implementation of ERP and CRM systems.  BSM is the global leader in the provision of Real Lean transformation services to Life Science companies.
